Paradigm Engineering's billet BMW N54/N55/N52/S55 crank seal guard/serpentine belt protection plate prevents pieces of the serpentine belt from being sucked into the oil pan. Serpentine belt failure on the BMW N54/N55/S55 platform is extremely common, as the serpentine belt can fail for various reasons.
In the event of a serpentine belt failure, fragments of the belt may enter into the oil pan through the crank seal. This can cause severe engine damage, if not total engine failure. Our Crank Seal Guard installs directly over your front crank seal, preventing belt fragments from entering.
Each Paradigm engineering crank seal guard is CNC milled from a solid block of 6061-T6 billet aluminum, and then anodized for corrosion resistance. The result is a much tighter tolerance and higher durability than typical bent or welded options available on the market.
All required mounting hardware included*
NOTE: Please apply moderate pressure to ensure crank seal guard is fully flush against engine block when tightening bolts. Failure to do so may result in fitment issues between the crank seal guard and harmonic balancer.
What is billet?
In this case, A billet is a solid block of aluminum (lightweight metal) with a size larger than the part. Excess material from the billet is removed by precision CNC machining, essentially carving the part out of solid aluminum. CNC machined parts are consistently stronger, better looking, and last longer than cheaper cast and plastic versions.
